The challenge

An Environmental Science professor teaching online for the first time was unsure whether her course would work well in that format. Her face-to-face course relied on static slides.

Process

  1. Met with the professor to talk through her concerns and showed her an online course that had received strong evaluations. She chose Rise for her lecture content instead of Storyline.
  2. Mapped each week's objectives to activities and checks for understanding.
  3. Redesigned her PowerPoint presentations as Rise modules that embed in the Blackboard LMS.
  4. Built a lecture template in Blackboard so every week followed the same structure.

The solution

Interactive weekly lectures in Rise with embedded media, inside a well-organized, consistent course template.

Results

Student feedback was positive, with many comments that the course was well structured and easy to follow. The professor was pleased with the course and continues to teach online.
